1. CarGuys Hybrid Wax Sealant
Best Features | Pros | Cons |
Easy and fast application. Product lasts and doesn’t leave swirl marks. | Long lasting. Hardy. Unapparelled shine. | A little bit sloppy upon application. Not ideal for very hot weather |
Overview:
Out of the three products we tried this was our favourite best wax for black cars. Mainly because it combined some of the best features the previous two products offered into one convenient package, for around the same price too, not bad.
CarGuys use science as their main selling point, claiming that their advanced scientific formula’ is created with the latest technology and research to offer a longer lasting sheen on a car’s paintwork and metal finish area. We’re actually rather inclined to believe them, that’s exactly what this product delivered.
Application was easy and didn’t take that long, the company claim it should take 15 minutes, but it took us 10 and we felt we had reached every nook and cranny in that time. Perhaps we’re just fast workers! Then we put the wax to the test and we’re happy to say it worked well. It lasted a long time and remained streak free in situations other waxes wouldn’t have, making us feel this is the best wax sealant for cars.
2. Mothers 05101 Mag & Aluminum Polish – 10 oz
Best Features | Pros | Cons |
Very effective on older more neglected cars. Only requires a clean cloth and the bottle of polish. | Product is gentle and can be used frequently. Easy to apple. | Formula doesn’t stand out so much against its competition on more modern vehicles. Comes out the bottle very fast (be warned). A tad greasier than we would have liked. |
Overview:
Why is it when something is labelled as a Mother’s secret’ we instantly want to know what it is, or for some reason trust it more? It could be a recipe, a remedy for an aliment or strangely in this case a bottle of high end car polish. But it works. Now we’re not sure whose Mother the company is referring to with its unique and interesting name but whoever she is; her secret to excellent polish is indeed a special one.
To give the product it’s full name: Mother’s Mag and Aluminium Polish is specifically designed to be used on certain parts of a car or larger vehicle like a van or truck. The product is at its best when applied to any car parts that contain a silver finish such as wheel trims or exhausts, making them look wonderfully shiny. The product also works well on cars that contain these parts in brass or other non-traditional alloys.
Application is simple enough, just requiring a clean cloth and, to quote the bottle a little bit of elbow grease’. We applied it to two cars in a little experiment. One old and one fairly new. The new car went back to looking like a showroom model which is great, but to be expected. However, the older car looked incredible after this. Truth is the older car had just been washed but had been a little bit neglected over time. We’re not going to say the older car looked like a showroom model again, but we were rather surprised by how good it did look.
Essentially, we were more impressed by how well this product works on older cars more so than we were with newer cars. All polish products should be able to make a newish car look showroom ready, but only a truly special one can revitalise an older vehicle. So, thanks Mom!
3. Chemical Guys WAC22916 HydroSlick SiO2 Ceramic Coating HyperWax
Best Features | Pros | Cons |
Affordable product that goes on easy and product lasts and protects. | Protects against rainfall, road splatter from puddles etc. Last’s a long time. | Isn’t actually a wax, it’s something else. Instructions require the user to cut through a lot of marketing buzz words until you reach the facts. Better on paintwork than on metal finish areas. |
Overview:
The marketing material calls this the first ever hyperwax’ and that it’s unlike any wax we’ve used before’. In all honesty it’s a lot like some of the wax we’ve used before, but don’t let that put you off. It’s excellent quality and is a very effective product, outlandish marketing claims aside.
This good wax for black cars uses advanced gel suspension technology to take advantage of the benefits offered by a ceramic coating. In English this means it basically lasts a lot longer and that a rather unique collection of chemicals have been employed to make it this way. Perhaps it is unlike any wax we have ever used before.
But calling it wax is factually inaccurate, this actually isn’t wax in its tradition form. The company may be keen for us to call it Hyperwax’ but that’s not a real word, what this really is; is a durable ceramic coating that makes use of nanotechnology and SiO2 technology to create a lasting wax-like effect.
So how does it work? Very well in fact. We found that this Hyperwax lasted a long time and created an impressive sealant on the pores of our car’s paintwork, protecting it against watermarks and other elemental issues that the weather throws at us. There’s nothing more annoying that the rain dirtying a freshly cleaned car. This product helps prevent this, even after a heavy and gritty rainfall the car still looked shiny and clean compared to other cars nearby. And for that alone we feel it’s worth the price tag. Not all wax like products can pull this off successfully. Many just smear and wash off in the rain. This product is up there competing against competitors to be the best wax sealant for cars.
